WINTER KIDS CAMP 2021
Kids Camp is a five day adventure for children in grades 3-6. The Kids Camp program is a beautiful mix of learning about God, spending time outdoors and enjoying games with friends... lots of good clean fun and laughter!
Each day campers will have a chance to engage in creative learning activities, explore and play, all while learning about a story worth knowing, the story that our faith is founded on: the Gospel message.
Every morning we'll spend time in worship and learning about God and then in the afternoons we'll take advantage of the wide open spaces at camp to play some epic games!
One of the highlights of Kids Camp is the food. Our professional chefs put on some spectacular camp food - its healthy, yummy and there is heaps of it! They're also experts on special diet needs so everyone is looked after.

Kids Camp has been putting a smile on young faces for over a decade! Every year children from all over Queensland (and sometimes every interstate) travel to the beautiful Coolum Beach for a week of fun and adventure. Kids Camp has traditionally been run in Summer but due to demand we launched Winter Kids Camp in 2018.

Kids Camp is a great 'first' camp for young campers! Our team take special care at the start of camp to help campers make new friends and feel comfortable on camp. We deliberately follow a regular timetable/routine on camp so that campers can feel comfortable in the new environment and we make sure we've got at least 1 leader for every 4 campers so that every camper gets looked after!

When my daughter got back from kids camp, she was more confident in herself, more aware of others around her, and genuinely more ‘light’ and happy. Though she wanted to live at Kids Camp forever (yep), she was just so much more sure of herself and she eagerly shared every story from camp. Waaaaay too many highs to share here, but we’ll definitely be back in Summer!
Leaders
Every camp has a directorship team, and a balanced team of male and female leaders. All leaders must complete a thorough application process. They are passionate about creating a high quality camp experience and are trainined to ensure it is a safe and fun experience. Many of our leaders have experienced what a life-changing difference these camps make as a camper and want to come back to serve the next generation! Bus Transport
$49 (incl. GST)
Pickup locations: Middle Park, Ipswich, Rochedale and Murrumba Downs.
Church Subsidy
Lutheran congregations and schools can nominate to help subside camper costs from their church/school community. Please enquire with your pastor/school chaplain to find out if they are subsiding campers to attend Kids Camp.
LLL Camping Ministry Grant
Thanks to the generous donation from the LLL towards our camping ministry, Lutheran Youth of Queensland can provide financial assistance to eligible individuals to attend a junior LYQ camp. To be eligible to apply, applicants must be unable to pay camp registration fees and in grades 3-6 and therefore eligible to attend a junior LYQ camp.

Mark Grieshaber Legacy Fund
In 2018 we were blessed to receive a generous bequest from Mark Grieshaber. Mark (Greezy) Grieshaber was an active part of the Lutheran Youth of Queensland community for over three decades until his death in late 2017. Mark involvement started as a participant at our events but mostly he was involved as a volunteer leader for our holiday camps, particularly serving as our camp bus driver. Mark’s passion to support young people meant he often attended multiple events every year and although Mark’s involvement goes beyond our archived records we know he attended more than 130 different events! Those of us who were blessed to serve alongside Mark will remember his selfless leadership and care for others, and his passionate worship singing!
In consultation with Mark’s family we’re thrilled to be able to use Mark’s generous legacy to offer a $50 sibling discount for our holiday camps. Mark had a deep passion for youth ministry and dedicated many voluntary hours to leading on camp and transporting campers to, from and during camp. It is therefore fitting that we use his generous gift to offer a sibling discount that effectively gives families with multiple campers free bus transport to and from camp.
COVID-10 Response
Pre-camp Screening
The safety of our camp participants is extremely important to us. If any of the below applies to your child, we cannot have them on camp:
- Those who have COVID-19.
- Those who have current COVID-19 symptoms.
- Those who are awaiting results of a COVID-19 test at the commencement of camp.
- Those who have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 within 14 days of camp commencing.
- Those who have directly travelled from or have visited a government-declared COVID-19 ‘hotspot’ or have travelled from overseas within 14 days of camp commencing.
Please contact us as soon as possible if any one of these criteria applies to your child prior to camp.
Sickness on Camp
Our COVID Safe plan requires us to be very cautious regarding sickness on camp. If anyone displays one or more symptoms associated with COVID-19 whilst on camp, we will require them to isolate from the camp group and for them to leave or be collected from camp ASAP. This needs to occur within 12 hours at your own expense. If you do not have the capacity to do this, we kindly ask that you contact us to cancel.
Cancellation of Camp
Currently we are still able to run holiday camps under our COVID Safe plan as per government direction. You can read more about our plan and how we are prioritising the safety of our participants below. If Government directions change and we need to cancel camp prior or during the event, we will notify all participants immediately via text and email.
LYQ’s COVID Safe Strategy
Our practices are in line with the COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Education Providers which is being utilised by camps all over QLD. We’re working in conjunction with camp venues to provide safe and health camps. Some of the ways that we’re keeping our participants safe is:
- Frequent hygiene practices for participants (washing hands and sanitising always!)
- Frequent and thorough equipment sanitising.
- For school aged children social distancing is not required in accommodation, dining and activities, but should be adhered to as much as possible.
- Specialised COVID-19 training for all leadership.
- Maximum 100 persons at a given event.
- Pre-event screening (including at check-in).
- Detailed record keeping for contact tracing purposes.
- Sending home anyone with COVID-19 symptoms.
