We have some epic activities lined up for our Explode campers! They’ll hit the water with their choice of surfing or wakeboarding, try their hand at horseriding, canoeing, archery or rope swing and swimming at Tunnel Ridge Ranch. They’ll head out to Blast Aqua Park to challenge themselves on the slides, blast bags, trampolines, swings, challenge tracks, balance beams and wobble pads, and make the most of the onsite fun at Luther Heights, including the flying fox, and epic nerf war and water fight!

They're always guaranteed amazing beach games, adventurous, creative and chilled electives, wide games and night games, giving them a seriously sweet camp!

Book your children in for an incredible week away and get them to start inviting friends to join in the fun with them! We'd love them to come and hang out with amazing Christian leaders, bring old friends and make new friends, all while discovering God together

This year Explode will be again running in conjunction with Blast - another exciting summer holiday camp taking place the following week -  giving campers the choice of attending one or both epic weeks -  if they dare! Check out more information about the two week package here.

It was my first camp not related to school and family/friends, and I enjoyed it! I made great friends, (I hope I will see them again) and had a great time.

It is the perfect opportunity to have an action packed week! Every year we welcome young people on camp from a variety of backgrounds. Whilst there is a faith element to every LYQ camp, we always welcome everyone to join in. Find out more about faith at LYQ camps. 

Where are our Summer Camps?

Each summer we run six camps in the school holidays for teenagers (Grades 7 - 11) and also for younger kids (Grades 3 - 6). Each of theses camps are held at our beautiful Luther Heights campsite at Coolum Beach and one at the stunning Koojarewon Youth Camp at Highfields. Whether you're looking for some pre-Christmas fun in December or to end your holidays on a high in January there is plenty to choose from. What a perfect way to spend your summer break.

Pete Schilling

I’m a father of three awesome kids, and I live in Buderim. We’re worshipping at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and I work between the Luther Heights and Koojarewon Youth Camps. I used to sell rollerblades and skateboards for a living, I really like dancing in our lounge room and love eating burgers!

 

Hannah Doecke

I grew up in Hervey Bay but I moved down to Brisbane in 2015 for a job at LYQ. I have studied Christian Ministry and Theology through ALC and now I am working full time at Lutheran Education Queensland. I am currently worshipping at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Everton Hills, serving as a worship team member and as the Coordinator of our youth group.

LYQ Leaders

We have an amazing bunch of leaders who volunteer their time to make sure that every camp is a bundle of fun and a great experience.  All of our leaders complete an extensive application and training process prior to being selected. Subsidies

Church subsidy

Some churches have registered with LYQ to obtain a code to provide subsidy to their young people. Please chat to your pastor/youth leader about a subsidy code and amount.

Buchholz Estate Scholarship Fund

The Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District (LCAQD) can provide financial assistance to eligible individuals to attend a Lutheran Youth of Queensland camp. To be eligible to apply, applicants must live within the boundaries of the Lutheran Church of Australia Queensland District, be unable to pay camp registration fees and be of secondary school age. For more information and to apply, please talk to the pastor or chairperson of your local Lutheran congregation, or the principal of your local Lutheran school or college.

Payment Plan

We are more than happy to help make coming to camp a reality. Please contact us to talk about your personal situation and organise a payment plan. To secure your booking, we do ask that an inital 10 percent deposit is made at the time of booking. 

Registered Child Care Provider

From 2 July 2018, the new Child Care Subsidy will replace the Child Care Benefit and Registered Care will cease to exist. You can still lodge claims up until 12 months from the date the care was provided. LYQ is no longer able to provide Registered Care receipts due to the Federal Government's introduction of a new Child Care Subsidy from 2 July 2018. Trucker Cap: We have two different caps on offer for this season of camps. The Live True cap is available for $20 (inc. GST). We also have a limited number of the He Restores My Soul caps available for a bargain $11!

We'll also have an awesome tuckshop available on camp, which will include delicious snacks, wristbands, hacky sacks and waterbottles. You will have the option during booking to add additional tuckshop credit (on top of the complimentary $5 credit).
