Event Update - 23/05/18
Excitement is ramping up for this Saturday's dinner - we can't wait to celebrate with more than 320 people! This year's Appeal Dinner is starting at 5:45pm to give you more time to enjoy canapes and mingle. To ensure that everything runs smoothly we've outlined a few key details below. We encourage you to preview the parking map below AND to peruse all the auction items outlined in the Dinner Guide below too... you'll love this year's premier auction experience!
1. Auction Item preview
We’re so thrilled to be able to present our best auction list ever! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters we have an amazing selection of live and silent auctions prepared for the evening (from p12 of the Dinner Booklet downloadable below). In particular, we're excited to again be able to offer an exclusive Barossa experiences for four people that has been made possible through the connections of Tyson Stelzer and the generosity of Langmeil, Yalumba, Peter Lehman Wines, Penfolds, Henschke Wines and Seppeltsfield.

2. Venue Address and Parking
There is ample on-site parking, with a four-storey car park around the back of the venue. Disregard any 'Park & Pay' notices, as parking is free on Saturday night. We are expecting over 320 people so you might like to consider arriving early or car-pooling where possible. You might also need to allow for some extra travel time (and pack an umbrella) if we get the predicted rain.

3. All the Formal Elements completed by 9:30pm
We hope to have all the formal elements of the night completed by 9:30pm so that guests who need to leave early can. But for those that can stay you're welcome to enjoy the great live music, mingle and catch-up with new and old friends until 10:30pm.
4. Tax-deductible Giving
Again this year we're able to accept tax-deductible donations for the QLG Scholarship Fund. These funds will be used to offer scholarships for our Luminate Gap Year program. Please tick the tax-deductible option on the donation envelope. All other donations on the night are not tax-deductible.
Young Lives - Shining Brighter
We invite you to join us on Saturday 26 May 2018 as we celebrate all that God is doing through our ministry and we partner in growing that influence further! The support we receive through our Brisbane Appeal Dinner plays a critical role in allowing us to share the Good News about Jesus with more than 13,000 young lives every year. So register your attendance today, invite your friends to fill a table of ten, and join us as we help young lives to shine brighter!
Great speakers, incredible company, tasty food and lots of fun!
Just like the exciting programs that we facilitate with young people, our Brisbane Appeal Dinner is lots of fun!
A highlight of every Brisbane Appeal Dinner is the contribution of our speakers. This year guests will be blessed to listen to Jim Schirmer, a sought after speaker and good friend of LYQ (see below for more info). Guests will also get to hear from young people who have been impacted through the ministry of LYQ.
Our dinner guests enjoy the chance to make new friends and catch-up with old mates. Most of our guests are connected in some way to the Lutheran community either through involvement in our ministry or through our churches, schools and care services. For some of our long-term supporters its a chance to reminisce about old times shared on camp together!
A key part of every Brisbane Appeal Dinner is the food and this year is no different! Dinner guests are in for a treat this year with scruptious nibbles on arrival and a two course meal complimented by a great selection of wine (thanks Wine Press!) and beer. To accommodate all of our guests we've moved this year to the BTP Conference Centre at Eight Mile Plains. It's a lovely venue with great food.
In between making new friends and enjoying some great food there will also be chances to have fun placing bids on the silent and live auctions. At the end of the night guests can test out the dance floor or sit back and enjoy the live band.
Making a serious difference!
Not only do we have lots of fun at the Brisbane Appeal Dinner, we also contribute to an incredible ministry that makes this kind of difference...
I've come to realise my worth and value as a person
LYQ is privileged to share the Good News about Jesus with more than 13,000 young people through our camping ministries, leadership training programs and church support work. Thanks to the generous support of our past and present ministry partners we've been blessed to see God double the influence of this incredible ministry over the last ten years. Our Brisbane Appeal Dinner plays an important role in ensuring that we can continue to introduce children and teenagers to a God who loves them, encourage them in their faith and give them the opportunity to shine brighter. That's why your involvement at this year's Brisbane Appeal Dinner is so important... we need your help to grow this important ministry!
Can't make it this year? You can still help!
You can still help to make a difference even if you can't join us at the Brisbane Appeal Dinner. You can support this important ministry by praying for the young lives we impact, telling your friends about this great work and making a financial contribution. Together we can help more young people know...
I've been made perfect
Guest Speaker - Jim Schirmer
Jim Schirmer has been called many things across his career: youth worker, educator, writer, speaker, story-teller, therapist, church planter, social justice advocate, and, most recently, counsellor and lecturer. When you boil it down, he is just someone who manages to make a living out of having conversations. While he will happily talk to you all day about the philosophy of Aristotle, the theology of N.T. Wright, the missiology of Michael Frost, the psychotherapy of Irvin Yalom, the storytelling of Victor Hugo, the comedy of David Mitchell, the history of piracy, the strategy of Australian Football, or the latest exploits of his two toddlers, he is ultimately passionate about any conversation that inspires people to be transformed through engagement with the complexities of life, and hopes that your conversation with him on the 26 May will give you just that experience.
